The Beverly Arts Center, located at 2407 W 111th Street, Chicago, Illinois 60657, will be hosting its 2nd Annual Battle of the Bands on Monday, August 6, 2018 beginning at 6:30pm.
Bands compete in 10-15 minute time slots throughout the evening and are judged by a pre-determined scoring criteria by BAC Board members and appointed staff for the first place band. The second place band is determined by the same scoring criteria and an audience vote. The first place band wins the headlining slot at the Beverly Arts Center's Brews Fest on Saturday, September 22, 2018 and is paid $700 (on September 22nd), while the second place band is awarded the opening act slot at Brews Fest and is paid $500 (on September 22nd). There will be sound check time slots assigned for the day of the event from 3:00pm-6:00pm.
Bands interested in competing in Battle of Bands can play original music or cover songs and must submit two or three recordings of the band performing via mp3 or www.youtube.com video to Carly Bishop, Director of Outreach, at firstname.lastname@example.org. NO PHONE CALLS, PLEASE! (These recordings do NOT need to be professional. Cell phone recordings are fine.)
Bands should keep in mind that this is an outdoor event in a neighborhood of young families. Whatever you sing will be heard by the surrounding blocks. Keep profanity to a minimum, please. In the event of rain, this event will be moved
A drumkit, microphone stands, microphones, microphone cords, amps, and a PA will be set up, and all bands will use the same set-up. Guitarists must bring their guitar cords to plug into the amps.
In your email you must also submit answers to the following questions:
1. How many microphones do you need?
2. Who uses these microphones? (i.e. Singer, Bass Player, Drummer, Rhythm Guitarist, etc)
3. How many guitars are you plugging in (this includes the Bass Guitarist)?
4. Do you need to amplify any additional intstruments such as a keyboard, saxophone, dulcimer, etc?
Once eight to ten quality bands have been chosen, the application will be closed. Bands will be accepted on a first come, first-served basis.
