Program Head Scene Design Assistant Professor Tenure Track Faculty Position and Head of BFA Scene Design Program.

The Theatre School at DePaul University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track assistant professor to serve as head of its renowned BFA Scene Design program. The Theatre School provides advanced training and design opportunities in a state of the art facility located in the heart of Chicago's vibrant theatre community. The school educates enterprising artists, thinkers, innovators, leaders, and globally conscious citizens who transform communities across DePaul, Chicago, the nation, and the world. The expert, passionate faculty and staff are committed to advancing the vibrancy of live theatre and performance while continually adapting to a broadening and changing profession. We seek a colleague who is passionate about teaching in an urban multicultural conservatory. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader, an accomplished professional, and an excellent teacher. Position begins September of 2018.

Successful candidates will have teaching experience at the college level and a MFA in Scenic Design or professional equivalent. Their portfolio will demonstrate a wide variety of scenic design work and experience on a regional/national level. They have an ability to inspire students, a commitment to collegiality and collaboration, and a proven interest in diversity and multicultural issues. Responsibilities: The head of the BFA Scene Design Program will oversee the on-going evaluation of scene design curriculum to achieve world class training. They will teach and advise all levels of undergraduate scene design students both in class and on productions. They will actively participate in school, university, and community service while staying committed to continuing professional work, both to stay current with industry standards and to foster professional relationships to establish internships and other collaborative opportunities for students.
