We are a Chicago based fine art services company affiliated with the Affordable Moving Company. We provide packing/crating, installation, climate controlled storage and transportation services for private individuals, galleries and businesses.

We are currently interviewing for part time art handlers. Applicants must be self motivated and capable of working in a team environment. Applicants must also have experience working directly with clients and managing daily projects. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, punctual, organized, can take direction well and is able to work independently. An education and/or employment history in the arts or moving industry is preferred, but not required.

Fundamentally, your responsibility is to ensure the safety of artworks in the process of  packing, storage, installation and transportation. The ideal candidate will be proactive in applying current standards and methods of packing, handling and installing artworks.

Skills & Qualifications: 

> Punctual, dependable, with attention to detail and a high degree of manual dexterity.
> Well-groomed and professional attitude for working with high-end clients in galleries, museums and private residences as required.
> Must be a creative, conscientious individual who takes pride in own work, with the ability to work collaboratively with others
> Must be self-motivated, able to schedule/pace the workload, work well under pressure, meet deadlines.
> Problem-solving skills to successfully complete installations and assignments.
> Familiar with museum material standards for wide scenario of wrapping, packing and handling methods.
> Capable of handling and moving art, including installation and de-installation and moving crated/packed works on and off vehicles.
> Able to safely lift and/or move heavy objects physically and mechanically without damage to object or person (lift and carry 50 lbs. and maneuver / manipulate crates upwards of 250 lbs.)
> Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Rates of pay are based on skill set and experience. Please emphasize any specific skills or experience which may be relevant in your cover letter, such as:
• Truck driving; Fine art conservation; preventive methods and materials use.
• Installation experience in procedures and techniques or related trades background. Woodworking, light construction, crate construction
• Computer inventory / database / registration or documentation knowledge.
• Furniture and specialized handling / household or designer moving.
• Rigging and handling knowledge.
