Program Description about Arts & Culture at the Chicago Park District: The Arts & Culture Unit envisions parks as vital cultural spaces that encourage all Chicagoans to explore and embrace the visual and performing arts and their power to enhance individual quality of life, neighborhood development and community dialogue. As part of the recreational activities and leisure choices available in Chicago communities, the Arts & Culture Unit connects Chicagoans to arts experiences in their local parks, serving preschoolers through seniors during weekend, daytime, after-school, evening and summer day camp hours. Programs range from large scale special events to ongoing classes and workshops with many different artists and arts groups and in all genres of the arts. Additionally, by integrating arts and culture into all Chicago neighborhoods we strive to encourage a life long commitment to learning and to arts and cultural advocacy. The Program Facilitator Duties: Administers day-to-day program operations in an effective and timely manner, and works to ensure that the program remains consistent with its design and objectives. Responsibilities may include program staffing, scheduling, site visits and evaluation, general troubleshooting and a range of office duties, such as payroll administration. Executes budget; makes sure expenditures remain within budget limits. Identifies resources for program supplies and services. Provides technical assistance to park instructional staff to familiarize them with the program’s ideas and goals, so that staff efforts advance the program’s objectives. Collects and reviews program data. Works collaboratively with regions and park staff on program development, staffing and events.
Qualifications and Application Requirements

Skills & Qualifications: 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Recreation, Leisure Studies or a related discipline in social services, cultural enrichment, environmental education or sports management plus two years’ experience in a core program area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Administrative experience preferred.
