Queer
identified performing artists and artists addressing queer themes in
their work are invited to apply to Links Hall for the Charged Bodies
Mentorship Program. This program is focused on the development and
presentation of original solo performance, under the mentorship of
critically acclaimed performance artist Tim Miller, and is an
investment in cultivating and supporting queer perspectives in
innovative performance practice within Chicago.
TIM MILLER
is an internationally acclaimed performance artist. Miller's creative
work as a performer and writer explores the artistic, spiritual, and
political topography of his identity as a gay man. Hailed for his humor
and passion, Miller's performances have been presented all over North
America and Europe in such prestigious venues as Yale Repertory
Theatre, the Institute of Contemporary Art (London), the Walker Art
Center (Minneapolis), and the Brooklyn Academy of Music. He is the
author of the books SHIRTS & SKIN , BODY BLOWS, and 1001 BEDS,
which won the 2007 Lambda Literary Award for best book in
Drama-Theatre. His solo theater works have been published in the play
collections O Solo Homo and Sharing the Delirium.
Since 1990, Miller has taught performance in the Theater Dept at UCLA
and the Dance program at Cal State LA. He is a co-founder of two of the
most influential performance spaces in the United States: Performance
Space 122 on Manhattan's Lower East Side and Highways Performance Space
in Santa Monica, CA.

Mentorship
will include a $500 stipend, free participation in an intensive
workshop with Tim July 21st-27th, 2008, long-distance mentoring,
another intensive meeting in early October and a presentation of
generated work November 21st and 22nd at Links Hall.
