You and Puppets and You, or, How to Clown and Puppet
taught by Vanessa Valliere
November 17th, 10:30AM - 3:30 PM
The Blue Parrot, 1924 N Halsted
This class uses elements of puppetry, clown, physical theater and storytelling to help students generate original pieces of performance art. We will look at the performer’s relationship to the audience as well as to objects/puppets. We will strive to create a nugget of material and/or the beginnings of a character for exploration beyond our time together.
No experience in puppetry or clown necessary. This class is for seriously not being too serious.
Vanessa. S. Valliere is a performer, devisor, puppeteer, and clown. She tours as Ada with Manual Cinema in their production of Ada/Ava. Vanessa has performed her devised solo puppetry/clown work in Chicago at the International Puppetry Festival (2015 & 2017), The Actor’s Gymnasium, Loyola University, and The Chi-Town Clown Revue at Theater on the Lake. Vanessa is a proud nerd-cheerleader for Chicago's own thirty-piece circus punk marching band, Mucca Pazza.
