Lorca’s classic Spanish tragic poem is performed by the Theatre Y Ensemble, is freshly adapted by Héctor Álvarez, features original music by Jeff Award winning composer Nicholas Tonozzi and is directed by Max Truax.. The second of Lorca’s three rural tragedies, Yerma is the story of a woman driven to extremes by her desperate desire to have a child. Trapped in a passionless marriage with a husband who shows no interest in having children, her maternal longing becomes obsession.

 

Yerma is a coproduction with Red Tape Theatre. Lorca’s classic Spanish tragic poem is performed by the Theatre Y Ensemble, is freshly adapted by Theatre Y Ensemble Member Héctor Álvarez,and features original music by Jeff Award winning composer Nicholas Tonozzi. Yerma marks Max Truax and Nicholas Tonozzi's first collaboration since their multiple Jeff Award winning production of The Mother. There is a preview on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 7:30 p.m. andOpening night is Friday, Oct. 27 at 7:30 p.m. The regular performance schedule is Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 4 p.m. Industry night is Monday, November 6 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 for general admission, $20 for students and seniors (with I.D.) and $15 for industry.
