National Louis University's Masters in Written Communication program, presents its 3rd Annual Playfest.

Staged readings of student plays and screenplays are presented. This opportunity allows students to have their work viewed by the public and to assist them in their writing process. All of the works are in variosu stages of development. 

The event is free and open to the public. We do ask that you R.S.V.P. so we are certain to have enough space for all, as seating is limited. You can R.S.V.P. at 

This year's pieces include:

THE ROGUE SHOTGUN (play) by Veronica Araica and directed by Johnny Garcia of the Redtwist Theater.

Set in Puerto Rico, 1965, Julie Rosado finds out that her husband has been cheating on her. She struggles to save her marriage and protect her children from the lies and deceit of the family's breadwinner.

BABY CAKES (screenplay) by Brittany Yantos and directed by Rebecca Laird.

A unique contestant enters the ring for "Baking Battles" a reality based baking show contest. Her final creation is something no one is prepared for.

THE MODEL (screenplay) by Salisia Webber and directed by Jill Matel of the Shakespeare All Stars

Kelly and Jessica, two high school girls that have been friends for many years, get trapped in a sex trafficking ring that is run by their basketball coach. Kelly's mother does everything she can to save the life of her only child.

FRANCES, MY MENSCH (play) by Lucy Pabst and direced by Sam Radom of Amazing Sammo Productions

Based on the "Color of Water: A Black Man's Tribute to His White Mother" by James McBride. This short play focuses on the relationship between two friends as they grow up in 1930's Virginia.

The event will also feature live literature by various students in the program.
