In the spirit of Chicago’s great legacy of public art and culture, Art on theMART will be the largest digital art projection in the world. This will be a first-of-its-kind for Chicago, projected across 2.5 acres (two football fields) of theMART’s exterior river-façade, adding to the city’s vibrant public art scene. The project will launch Saturday, September 29, 2018 just after dusk during a large-scale public unveiling event. The installation will include four contemporary digital artworks using 34 projectors to illuminate the façade of theMART. This will not just be a one-time spectacle, but an ongoing series of curated projection programs that will be displayed up to two hours a night, five days a week, for ten months of the year. The City of Chicago and theMART will be working in partnership to manage and curate the projected artwork and have a thirty-year agreement to facilitate the project.
