In late 2007, the IRS issued a redesigned Form 990 for the 2008 tax year (returns to be filed in 2009). The redesigned form asks many new questions focused on governance issues and policies. This is a 1 day workshop is a quick introduction to screenprinting onto fabric. Students will come with a black and white image (either a laser print or photocopy). We will show how to burn an image to a screen, and print the image onto a t-shirt. Each student will have time to print at least 5 one color t-shirts by the end of the day. This workshop is not a complete guide to screenprinting, but a fun way to get exposed to the medium, and leave with a product that you designed yourself. Once upon a time, under the direction of the late great Del Close, a group of his students created a show that became the inspiration for the performance level classes at the iO Theater.

That show went on to enjoy a successful for two and half years and closed shop shortly after Del Close passed away.

Now the remaining active Chicago improvisors of that group are bringing that show back. And they brought friends.

Felt adds a touch of fun to the traditional improv show mainly because it’s cast is not human. The cast of Felt is made up of 9 unique puppets that do their best to perform some of the most well-known forms created or inspired by the iO Theater over the years.

*Felt will return to their regular 8pm time slot on Wed nights starting in November.

Cranston’s dynamic oeuvre blends humor with pathos in such conceptual works ranging from work based upon the life of Marvin Gaye to life sized self-portraits as piñatas to a weather balloon filled with all of the air necessary to read all of Jane Austen’s novels aloud. From collage and drawing to sculpture and installation, Cranston uses a variety of mediums and subject matter that make her work as unpredictable as it is engrossing.
