May Master Class by Corky Siegel

The free master classes are for voice, string, winds, and percussion and cover rock, jazz, blues classical, folk, ethnic, rap, and even poetry. Corky claims that within 5 minutes he can guide a willing student, professional, or teacher into a deeper mode of expression that can profoundly change their playing forever. Participants should be mild intermediate through advanced but everyone is welcome.

For 30 years Corky Siegel has been sharing with musicians all over the world, professionals as well as beginners, how to tap the natural dynamic power in their music with amazing results. Corky will perform a little at all the events.

Black Enough?

Join us at the Experimental Station on Thursday, May 29, 2008 at 6:30pm for a candid conversation around the intersection of race, ethnicity, and aesthetics in contemporary art. How do we begin to unpack the complexity of race and respresentation as it relates to the art market? A thoughtful group of artists, curators, art historians and collectors will share with us their thoughts in a candid conversation with members of the arts community. more...

The Rise of the Cultural Consumer: New Frameworks for the Arts & Bus. Leaders

The RenGen, short for renaissance generation, is a cultural movement created by the confluence of art, education, entertainment and business that has as its center a powerful new player: the CULTURAL CONSUMER. As the RenGen gathers force in our civilization, it will have a huge impact on how we live and work. This cohort will determine how the workplace is organized, which products will succeed or fail, and which institutions will thrive or be rendered irrelevant.

Villains

Coming this summer to a theatre near you, NMTC presents a new breed of evil: incompetence. In a season chock full of super hero riff-raff, Villains is the anti-superhero answer to your summer. Villains paints a vivid picture of the true life struggles of making it in a ‘Super-Fied’ world. It’s not all million dollar lasers and man eating viruses…it takes hard work, time, and dedication. And that’s where Jeff comes in; follow the adventures of this self proclaimed leader and his band of misfits: Slab, Lady Woman, The Fate, and Heat Conduction Man as they work to make a name for themselves. Do they have what it takes to steal the Blue Sheik Diamond from the Museum of Geological Discoveries before it leaves town forever? Or are they destined to trudge through the daily grind of their day jobs hoping for few minor misdemeanors. From the dynamic duo that brought you Manos: Rock Opera of Fate, citizens of the world beware…because Villains is coming to town. more...

Classes at the Hamlin Park Fieldhouse (chicago moving company)

Fundamentals of Dance Technique
Adults – Movement blends concepts from technical modern dance with
eastern principals of yoga—to help dancers sing dynamically with their
bodies and increase their conscious dancing.
Wednesdays, 6-7:30 pm.
Teacher: Nana Shineflug

Int/Advanced Modern Dance
Adults – Shineflug is one of Chicago’s finest teachers; her technique
classes focus on establishing a solid center/core of the body, then
challenging it in new ways. Nana’s movement blends concepts from
technical modern dance with eastern principals of yoga—to help dancers
sing dynamically with their bodies and increase their conscious
dancing. Live accompaniment by Barry Bennett, CMC
composer-in-residence.
