Design Dance's Youth Summer Camp	Event Type: Workshop Monday, August 18, 2008 9:00am - Friday, August 22, 2008 4:00pm We are excited to introduce Design Dance's first summer camp for young dancers. This week-long experience will give students the opportunity to experience a multi-faceted dance education and will focus on the core elements of the Design Dance message. Instructors will spend time educating students on proper technique and form in various styles while also introducing them to a variety of forms of dance from a choreography perspective. Each day, dancers will also be asked to create their own works of movement art using the various styles and music they've been introduced to that day. Dancers will be encouraged towards a feeling of community between themselves and their peers and grow in their understanding of respect, positive encouragement and self-expression. Elements Contemporary Ballet Summer Workshop	Event Type: Workshop Saturday, August 9, 2008 10:00am - 5:00pm Elements Contemporary Ballet Summer Workshop introduces the ballet dancer to ECB's style, methods, and choreography. Participants study contemporary ballet technique with Artistic Director Mike Gosney, receiving personal coaching designed to expand the dancer's range of movement while developing their ability to make independent artistic choices. Workshop students will also have the opportunity to work in a professional rehearsal setting with the critically acclaimed ECB dancers, inspiring the creation of new choreography through guided improvisation, as well as learning excerpts from the company's original repertoire. The classes culminate in an informal performance in which the students demonstrate the learned material for a guest audience. Friends and family are invited and encouraged to attend the performance. Elements Contemporary Ballet performs at Looptopia this Friday	Event Type: Performance Friday, May 2, 2008 7:00pm Elements Contemporary Ballet will preview the upcoming Spring Concert 2008 this Friday at the Looptopia Festival, Chicago's all-night downtown cultural celebration. The company will showcase new cutting edge works that combine the beauty of classical technique with the boldness of contemporary ideas. The event is free and open to the public.
