Matter Dance Company excitedly presents their first fully improvised dance show, Chance Dance at Stage 773 on Sunday September 26th.  

 

MDC is thrilled to present our first improvised dance show - Chase Dance. The talented dancers of MDC will perform 20 one minute improvised dances while the audience will get to decide the framework, guidelines and specifications of the dances by a roll of the dice.  This spontaneous show will feature our dancers creating, in the moment masterpieces while live musicians play fully improvised pieces to complement and enhance this one time only performance. 

 

 Matter Dance Company celebrated its fifth year anniversary this year.  Chicago natives and MDC Founders Gail Adduci, Carisa Barreca, and Jessica Hoversen, have diverse backgrounds ranging from dance therapy to corporate finance and sketch comedy.  Their unique perspectives lend themselves perfectly to their upcoming show which prides itself on having something for everyone.

Now in its fourth year, Matter Dance Company was founded by longtime collaborators and Chicago natives Gail Adduci, Carisa Barreca, and Jessica Hoversen, who have performed together throughout the Midwest over the last 10 years.  Their work has been featured in Dance Chicago, the Around the Coyote Festival, Open House Dance Collective, Rebound, and Collaborations.  The MDC founders have diverse backgrounds ranging from dance therapy to corporate finance to sketch comedy and their unique perspectives allow them to create outside the box and present performances that are accessible to everyone.  Matter Dance Company's principle belief is that dance should be created for the audience and dancer alike.  Their goal is to create dance that makes the audience think, laugh, and want to experience dance.  Matter Dance Company is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization.
