Whether or not you’ve enjoyed tapping as kid, want to brush up on your footwork, or have never had a tap class in your life and are looking for a fun, rhythmic workout, this is the tap class for you! Galaxie’s Adult Tap class will kick off at an entry level, beginning with basic tap fundamentals, and their relationship to music. Each student will work at feeling and performing rhythm in the body through the tapping feet. Together, the class will move into more complex steps, rudiments, and rhythms, while building coordination, endurance and dexterity. We will also work on simple combinations and routines to exercise the mind while giving the body a great workout. This is a stress-free environment designed for anyone who loves to move; fun is the main goal! Please wear loose clothing comfortable for moving and tap shoes.

Tap II is a challenging class for intermediate/advanced level tap dancers, and is designed to be a bridge from intermediate to advanced levels. Emphasis is placed on developing a greater sense of dexterity, articulation, and clearer phrasing of foot articulation, and rhythm. We will also continue and take greater risks in coordinating the upper body, emphasizing the body's clear shifting of weight in time, so that we begin "Tap DANCING," rather than "TAP Dancing." We will also delve deeper into the fundamentals of music, and explore how that sophistication and understanding--having a true relationship to music as a rhythmic dancer-- can greater enhance our execution of exercises, improvisations and combinations. Students will realize the joys that come with being a dynamic rhythm maker in an ensemble, while keeping time and sharing music, and energy together.
