Chicago’s Chinese Fine Arts Society is looking for a new part time Managing Director.

 

The Managing Director's primary role is to lead the management and growth of the Chinese Fine Arts Society (CFAS). The Managing Director is responsible for financial planning, development, marketing, and general operations, working closely with the Board of Directors; he or she is also CFAS's liaison to the Chicago classical music, nonprofit, funding and arts education communities. He or she actively pursues growth opportunities and is the leader of the strategic planning process. This is a part-time position requiring occasional evening meetings and weekend work. Founded by Barbara Tiao in 1984, the Chinese Fine Arts Society (CFAS) is dedicated to promoting the understanding of Chinese culture through music and other fine arts.. For 25 years, we have been the leading champion of Chinese music in Chicago – from traditional to contemporary.  Our programs have increased and enhanced the canon of Chinese classical music and arts, inspiring both young musicians and professionals to explore and expand their experience past traditional art forms, simultaneously enriching their awareness of China’s cultural heritage, both old and new. Qualifications

The candidate for the Managing Director position must exhibit leadership, excellent interpersonal skills, and a passion for serving the mission of the Chinese Fine Arts Society. He/she must be highly organized and motivated, detail-oriented, flexible and resourceful. Required experience includes at least three to five years of arts management experience, preferably with an emphasis on:

 

. Developing strategies for organizational growth and sustainability.

. Marketing, particularly online/social networking based marketing.

. Grant writing, event planning and other fundraising.  Experience with FundRaiser Select or other donor database system a plus.

. Administrative management (staff, board or volunteer) in community based, and/or arts organizations.

. Financial management and oversight.

. Bachelor's Degree required.

. Interest in Chinese culture and development of young artists a plus.

 

Skills

. Strong computer and internet skills

. Strong verbal and written communication skills.

. Chinese language skills a plus.
