Chicago-CityMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field, supplemented by a minimum of one year of experience in an accounting-related position; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience in not-for-profit accounting is preferred.
Good knowledge of general accounting principles and practices, financial record keeping and reporting, payroll and timekeeping processes and procedures, and accounting terminology and computer operations particularly in Quickbooks and Microsoft Office. Ability to audit and analyze basic financial data, trace transactions through financial records, manage accounts, use and maintain manual and computerized spreadsheets and records, and record and reconcile financial transactions. Good basic math, analytical, auditing, organizational, and oral and written communication skills.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT: An applicant must be an actual resident of the City of Chicago. Proof of residency will be required at the time of application.
SALARY: $39,000 annual

DUTIES: Under general supervision, the Accounting Analyst performs various accounting duties at an intermediate level, working independently on accounting assignments performing account receivable functions for several not-for-profit organizations as follows:
• Process deposits and wire transfers
• Code, record and update journal entries including expenditures, account transfers and budget revisions
• Audit financial documents to ensure entries are accurate and appropriately allocated to accounts and comply with funding guidelines
• Document errors and reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements
• Prepare financial statements, analysis, and other reports
• Provide technical assistance to program managers and resolution to accounting problems
• Perform other related duties as required
