Ragdale is an artists' retreat located on the grounds of Arts and Crafts architect Howard Van Doren Shaw's 1897 summer home in Lake Forest, IL. The artists' community, situated 30 miles north of Chicago, hosts more than 200 emering and established artists of all disciplines each year.

An in-residence program designed to serve organizations looking for a home base. Current artists-in-residence include Mordine and Company Dance Theatre, Luna Negra Dance Theater, and River North Chicago Dance.

The Djerassi Resident Artists Program has provided more than 1,900 artist residencies, and currently serves approximately 80 artists each year—all free of charge. Located in Woodside, CA, it is the largest artist residency program in the West. Residencies are awarded to national and international artists in the disciplines of choreography, literature, music composition, visual arts, and media arts/new genres.

Founded in 1907, the MacDowell Colony is the oldest artists’ colony in the U.S. Its mission is to nurture the arts by offering creative individuals of the highest talent an inspiring environment in which to produce enduring works of the imagination. MacDowell hosts artist residencies in the winter, summer, and fall of every year for writers, composers, visual artists, photographers, printmakers, filmmakers, architects, interdisciplinary artists, and arts collaborators. It's located in Peterborough, New Hampshire.
