A unique opportunity to work on Chicago SummerDance, an eleven-week, outdoor dance and music festival in Grant Park. Job Title: Chicago SummerDance Intern Period: Summer: May - August, 2008 Commitment: 2 - 3 days per week, including some evenings. Compensation: $8 per hour Contact: Carlos Tortolero, Program Coordinator Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs Responsibilities: Intern will work with the Program Coordinator in planning and administration of dance programs for the Chicago SummerDance program. Duties will include:  Concert and on-site management  Liasing with bands, agents, dance instructors, partner organizations; and collecting and compiling band and instructor’s information for contracts, payments, and publicity  Proofreading and writing marketing and PR copy  Evaluating programs
Qualifications and Application Requirements

Skills & Qualifications: 

• Thorough knowledge of various music and dance styles • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Detail oriented, personable, able to work independently and as a team member • Experience working with artists and non-profit organizations preferred NB: Intern candidates must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program and live in the city of Chicago. Employment is offered through the Chicago Cultural Center Foundation.
