Int/Advanced Modern Dance Adults – Shineflug is one of Chicago’s finest teachers; her technique classes focus on establishing a solid center/core of the body, then challenging it in new ways. Nana’s movement blends concepts from technical modern dance with eastern principals of yoga—to help dancers sing dynamically with their bodies and increase their conscious dancing. The Alcyone Festival Hrosvitha, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Susanna Centlivre, Georgia Douglas Johnson, Joanna Baillie—heard of them? Halcyon Theatre offers a comprehensive look at early female playwrights and how their “firsts” have shaped women’s place as a creative force in the arts today. Halcyon will also examine other “firsts” for female playwrights. For example, Hrosvitha (c930-1002) is considered the first dramatist after the dark ages.

Entering its twentieth year, the New York Summer Dance Intensive is a four-week workshop that centers on modern and contemporary technique, with an emphasis on performance skills. The program provides daily technique classes with fellow participants, unlimited daily classes from the current DNA schedule, and culminates in a fully produced performance of original choreography by the Intensive's faculty.

The Alcyone Festival Hrosvitha, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Susanna Centlivre, Georgia Douglas Johnson, Joanna Baillie—heard of them? Halcyon Theatre offers a comprehensive look at early female playwrights and how their “firsts” have shaped women’s place as a creative force in the arts today. Halcyon will also examine other “firsts” for female playwrights. For example, Hrosvitha (c930-1002) is considered the first dramatist after the dark ages.

DANCE NEW AMSTERDAM
New York Summer Dance Intensive 2008 June 29-July 27, Performances July 26 at 8pm & July 27 at 3pm
Entering its twentieth year, the New York Summer Dance Intensive is a four-week workshop that centers on modern and contemporary technique, with an emphasis on performance skills. The program provides daily technique classes with fellow participants, unlimited daily classes from the current DNA schedule, and culminates in a fully produced performance of original choreography by the Intensive's faculty.

NYSDI offers dancers the opportunity to study and perform at Dance New Amsterdam, one of New York City's largest and most highly respected dance schools, known for its emphasis on injury-prevention in a supportive, yet challenging, environment. more...

Int/Advanced Modern Dance Adults – Shineflug is one of Chicago’s finest teachers; her technique classes focus on establishing a solid center/core of the body, then challenging it in new ways.
