Perfect Worlds / Propositional Attitudes, taking place Oct. 23 at the at the MCA Chicago, is a showcase of the choreographic, interactionist dance, and instructionist performance works profiled in Propositional Attitudes, edited by Elana Mann and John Burtle (Golden Spike Press, LA, 2018) and Perfect Worlds: Artistic Forms & Social Imaginaries by Michael Workman (StepSister Press, Toronto, forthcoming). Throughout the day, visitors will be able to access and enact the instructionist works using the museum as a site of performance.
Presenting partner SITE/less, a new dance, performance, and social practice art laboratory operated by Zephyr Dance, will host an expansive weekend Oct. 26-28 of other participatory, written choreography from both books, alongside new works, performances and symposia taking place throughout the weekend.
Many of the choreographies are instructions that visitors to the space may act out. We are currently seeking volunteers to act as docents, guiding visitors through the instructions on how to act out the performances, helping connect them with others in the space or to performers specially-designated for some of the pieces.
Please contact Michael Workman at the email below with availability, and please note any other past docent / performance work, along with any links of past work you'd like to include.
