The Residency Project @ 880 is now accepting proposals for our Summer 2019 Research and Practice Residency Program.
WHO SHOULD APPLY:
Mid-career and established professional artists seeking the help of a dedicated research/studio assistant.
Please note: This program does not accept applicants who are currently enrolled in a degree program (unless at the PhD level). Degree-seeking students are encouraged to check out our Retreat Residency or Fellowship Programs.
ABOUT US:
880 serves as a space for creative research and practice, collective living, and arts based learning. Situated in Pasadena, California, 880 provides ample space to live and work with access to the thriving arts scenes, diverse cultural landscape, and natural resources of Los Angeles and the San Gabriel Valley.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM:
The Research and Practice Residency Program is a two-week residency that offers time and space for you to live and work with the help of a dedicated fellow. Although we don’t expect our artist-in-residence to produce a “final product,” applicants should have a specific project in mind that they plan to work on with some concrete ideas about how they will conduct research and/or make documentable progress.
We pair you with a student fellow whose skill sets and research interests align with your project. The fellow will be prepared to assist you with your artistic research and professional practice throughout your two-week residency. Staff will work with you in advance of your residency to establish a schedule "scaffold" which gives some structure but allows for enough flexibility that you and your fellow can experiment, explore, and evolve your project as needed.
PROPOSAL DEADLINE: March 15, 2019
RESIDENCY PERIOD: Two weeks between early-June and late-September
APPLICATION FEE: None
PROGRAM FEE: $1,500
