In celebration of our 40th Anniversary Links Hall is making the upcoming season (August 2018-June 2019) FREE to artists to participate in. That means you can apply to our Linkage performance rental program and perform at Links Hall this year without spending a dime... on us at least. Applications are live now and being accepted on a rolling basis - we are currently booking Aug-December 2018.
Links Hall was founded as a non-profit 501(c)3 arts organization in 1978 by three innovative dancers and choreographers, Bob Eisen, Carol Bobrow and Charlie Vernon. The space was initially run as an artists’ cooperative which provided space and community to hundreds of artists of multiple performance disciplines and cultures from Chicago and around the USA.
Links Hall became a National Performance Network presenting partner in 1998. Links Hall’s Director, Roell Schmidt was appointed to the City of Chicago’s Cultural Advisory Council in 2012. In April 2013, Links Hall and musician/presenter Mike Reed created a new collaborative arts venue as the shared home of the for-profit Constellation and the non-profit Links Hall.
For 51 weeks each year, Links Hall encourages artists and audiences to take an equal risk and embrace experimentation through its residency programs, artist-curated festivals, co-presentations with self-producing artists, cabarets, performance series, workshops and low-cost studio rentals.
Apply to be part of Links Hall’s 40th Anniversary season!
Links Hall has made it this far because of the creative willpower of the Chicago performing arts community. It’s what kept the old Links Hall studio on Sheffield and Newport going for 35 years and what’s been filling the studios in our shared Constellation | Links Hall home to bursting for the past five.
To celebrate, give thanks, and pay-the-40th-forward, Links is suspending all Linkage performance rental costs for the 2018-2019 season in Studio A (the white box).
2018-2019 season Linkage Partners will be selected by Links Hall staff and Programming Committee who are dedicated to making the intentional choices to ensure the 40th Anniversary Season showcases the City of Chicago’s rich and vibrant performing arts communities and artists of all races, colors, religions, sexes, sexual orientations, national origins, ages, abilities and genetics.
If, like Links Hall’s mission, you equally value artistic innovation AND public engagement, are creating a new work that needs a performance home, and want to be part of the Links community – please APPLY to be a Linkage Partner!
