City Winery Chicago Riverwalk, inspired by The Year of Public Art is seeking visual artists to participate in live painting/drawing events from June 2017 through September 2017.
Each month, three selected artists will be invited to create an original work of art using new high quality oak barrels as their surface. The event will take place on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, weather permitting, and will run from 3pm-7pm. City Winery Chicago Riverwalk is seeking artists who have experience in live painting and who feel confident in their ability to complete a medium sized piece during one 4 hour session. Barrels can be prepped prior to the event! Some basic art supplies will be provided, however artists are responsible for their mediums.
This live painting project is an act of participation in Chicago’s Year of Public Art, and all artists must live and work in the city of Chicago to be considered. Artists may work in any medium that is suitable for the nature of this project. A couple factors to consider when selecting a medium are the time constraints of the session and the probable high-density foot traffic of the Riverwalk.
Artists are encouraged to bring additional artwork to the Riverwalk for display and sale with no commision from City Winery Chicago Riverwalk. It is suggested that Artists bring their own “Square” payment readers for ease of sale.
Artists are invited to participate in a silent auction from which 70 percent of the proceeds will be donated to a Chicago based charity organization, and 30 percent to the artist. Specific charities will be discussed with each artist. This project also aims to display completed works in prominent buildings along the Riverwalk such as the Bridge Museum.
If you are interested in submitting to this call, please send a brief bio, a link to your website or artist Instagram, and a loose proposal for your live painting session to Ericka at firstname.lastname@example.org
We truly look forward to seeing your work!
