Applicants: Solo Performance Lab

Submissions are now open for the 2018 Solo Performance Lab at the Greenhouse Theater Center!

The purpose of our Solo Performance Lab is to honor the Greenhouse's institutional commitment to solo performance by continuing to offer local artists the space and support to develop new solo work. Inspired by the success of last year’s inaugural iteration, co-produced with DirectorsLabChicago, we hope to continue investing in Chicago’s vibrant solo theatre scene and align these efforts with the rest of our playwright focused professional development programming.

We are currently seeking teams of artists (writer, actor, and director) to submit proposals for new solo pieces to be developed through this program. We are looking for proposals that focus on an unexamined historical event or figure which illuminates a facet of our shared history. We are especially interested in events and figures which history has forgotten or intentionally excluded. Submissions materials include artist resumes, a three-page proposal, a one-page artistic statement, and a ten-page writing sample. Submissions close December 8th, 2017 and applicants can submit at www.greenhousetheater.org/sololab.
