2019 LATITUDE Residency

Since August of 2012, LATITUDE has welcomed more than 30 artists to the lab as residents! We have helped these artist produce work for exhibitions and books, coordinate public events, and share our knowledge and community. In turn, residents have generously lent their creative energy to the lab, and have participated in staff critique groups, artist talks, book discussions, workshops and more!

We welcome applications from artists of varied disciplines. Though our residents are primarily photographic, we are interested in anyone proposing to make productive use of the lab. Applications are open from August 1 - August 31, 2018. Selected applicants will be invited for a 1-month residency at LATITUDE during 2019. If you are interested in applying for a residency with us, please read the following carefully.

Residents receive:

  • No-cost access to and use of the lab for 1 month. (This includes: ink charges, scanning, and daily membership.)

  • Project consultation and oversight from the Lab Director and Lab Technician.

  • Customized education on lab equipment, software and other production needs.

  • 24/7 access to the lab (at the Lab Director’s discretion, after an initial training period).

  • Assistance from LATITUDE staff with professional development, coordinating studio visits with curators, writers, and other local artists, and programming support.

Residents provide:

  • Open studio hours when they are available to discuss their projects and practice with the lab community.

  • One piece of free public programming (e.g. a workshop, artist's talk, etc.), produced with the assistance of the LATITUDE staff.

  • Donation of one print to LATITUDE's Residency Collection.

  • A commitment to LATITUDE's mission of open, collaborative learning.

Please note:

Residents should be prepared to provide their own paper, glassine, data storage devices, packing materials, etc. We are fortunate to have good relationships with several vendors and may be able to help solicit a donation of paper or other material, but this isn't something we can guarantee.

We gladly welcome applications from artists based any/everywhere! Unfortunately, we cannot provide travel assistance or housing. Accepted applicants need to be prepared to fund their own travel and housing during their residency.
